Valentina Picozzi, the Italian artist who made the Bitfinex and Tether logos, launches her own collection of NFTs on the Hype.art platform . The artist made the first release of her NFTs in January 2021 at OpenSea as an airdrop. Since then, she hasn’t stopped working on a new set of NFTs, dealing with the conflict between cryptocurrencies and fiat money. A very topical issue as a result of the role that cryptocurrencies are having in the war in Ukraine.

Picozzi was introduced to blockchain technology in 2013. Three years later, he founded Satoshi Gallery in San Francisco, together with Cryptograffiti . During these nine years, Valentina has explained to numerous artists the meaning of blockchain for art and how this technology can help them develop their profession.

The need to explain to people the differences between fiat money and the money brought by Bitcoin has always been very present in Valentina’s professional career. In fact, Satoshi Gallery has shown on several occasions works where artists exhibited representations of dollar bills or images linked to cryptocurrencies in their creations.

The self-taught artist learned everything she knows about crypto by reading and attending conferences in San Francisco, the city she moved to from Italy. Valentina told the Blockchain Observatory that as soon as she became aware of the existence of Bitcoin, she wanted to be part of its community and help the cause in some way. Since math was her forte, not hers, she used art to help spread the message of Bitcoin.

Art to bridge gaps

Picozzi has always championed the use of art and the humanities to bridge the gap between technologists and ordinary people. For this reason, the appearance of NFTs was a shock in the life of this woman, who spends most of her time painting and helping other artists to introduce themselves to blockchain technology. Valentina sees in non-fungible tokens the opportunity to bring Bitcoin technology to the streets. In fact, NFTs have become one of the main gateways for ordinary people to the cryptocurrency universe.
