NFTs come for the first time to the Latin American swimming world

The alliance between The Colombian Swimming Federation and LEVERADE will give the opportunity to deliver awards in NFT format. 

The Colombian Swimming Federation (Spanish acronym FECNA) became the first institution in the field to deliver digital trophies and medals to athletes and clubs in Latin America. An alliance between FECNA and LEVERADE was announced on August 1, which will deliver these awards in digital format, using blockchain technology and non fungible tokens (NFT). 

The LEVERADE platform based in Murcia, Spain has already announced other such alliances both in Spain and in other countries. On its Twitter social network profile, it communicates that it has awarded NFT trophies and medals in sports such as water polo, tennis, soccer, handball, among others. In March 2022, the Spanish Surfing Federation awarded NFT trophies, as did the Spanish Handball Association (ASOBAL) in June 2022. 

The first tournament in which the FECNA will award NFT trophies will be at the National Interleague Diving Championship, which takes place August 17-21 this year. Then, medals and digital trophies will be awarded to athletes at the National Water Polo League, which will be played from the 25th to the 28th of the same month. In the press release, the company highlights this major step towards innovation.
