MetaDocs, the Virtual Clinic in the Metaverse with Unlicensed Doctors

Published

on

The most famous doctors on social networks join forces to create a virtual clinic with consultations in NFTs.

The MetaDocs platform, presented at the end of 2021, seeks to put an end to bureaucracy in healthcare systems by facilitating people’s access to a consultation with a doctor and even more so virtually and from anywhere in the world. Among its members are the most influential doctors with a large number of followers on social networks.

Currently there is no launch date but they are creating and strengthening the community by having meetings via Discord, Twitter and in different events such as Miami NFT Week, VeeCon and NFT NYC. There is also no definite price but in announcements from the creators they have estimated a price of 0.2 ETH (approximately 570 USD) per NFT which includes an «Ask Me Anything» session with a doctor, direct communication, among other add-ons.

Its founder Dr. Sina Joorabchi, who has 1.9 M followers on TikTok, hopes with this project to decentralize the healthcare system and create an ecosystem that benefits its users. In addition to that it has a charity plan, as described on its website:

  • MetaDocs will donate the first $1 Million dollars in sales to an autism charity.
  • MetaDocs will donate 20% of secondary sales to a selected DAO charitable organization.
  • MetaDocs will give away 100 NFTs to people displaying Acts of Kindness.

«Our deliverable is connecting people with these doctors for a value of whatever they want to talk about or connect with.» –

The goal of MetaDocs is clear, but it creates a debate among the medical community about whether or not what is being created is correct. Many doctors argue about the legal loopholes of the platform, such as the fact that MetaDocs still does not have the licenses required to develop telemedicine or that its members present themselves as unprofessional to the community, which has caused the project to receive a lot of criticism.

Various comments that have been made in reports and on Discord with the community increasingly cast doubt on whether the platform can be 100% reliable and whether it is worth the price it would cost. What is certain is that Joorabchi and his colleagues are looking to revolutionize medicine by introducing it into the metaverse and that they still have parts of the project to stabilize.
