Manchester United Score Sponsorship Deal with Tezos

Tezos blockchain have agreed a multiyear sponsorship deal with world renown football team Manchester United. Along with the future prospect of Red Devil-based NFTs to be launched, the partnership between the two industry giants sees the Tezos logo become the centrepiece of the club’s training shirt, which stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford will wear as they warm-up before matches, as well as throughout the week during training. 

With the incredible stature of Manchester United as a footballing institution, along with their seemingly high emphasis on club branding and social media interaction (with some fans calling the club ‘Social Media F.C’), Tezos can certainly expect a lot of exposure through their new partnership with the marketing-savvy club. The expectations can also be inferred through the finances involved in the deal, as although terms have not been disclosed, initial reports suggest that Tezos are paying upwards of $27 million per year for the Mancunian side to sport their logo.

In addition to the financial incentives, the newly inked deal has forged plans for the club to introduce several fan experiences built into the Tezos blockchain. If we refer back to Tezos’s previous partnership with an infamous sporting body, that is, with McLaren Racing, where they dropped NFTs which illustrate the company’s history and success, it would be rational to assume that NFTs depicting the vast heritage of Manchester United may be hitting the Tezos blockchain sometime soon. Through the deal, Tezos also pledge to support the Manchester United Foundation with ongoing donations of XTZ.

Manchester United are not the first football club to have teamed up with a crypto firm, as fellow Premier League club Watford secured a deal with Stake.com, which saw the Dogecoin logo added to the team’s shirt sleeve, and Italian giants Lazio also signed a $30 million sponsorship deal with Binance.
