Iconic parts of the community mural created on Reddit are turned illegally into NFTs

Users in different NFTs marketplaces have been taking advantage of the joint effort that was made to create the mural. 

Last week a space was opened on the Reddit platform called r/Place where a kind of banner was created pixel by pixel and united different users from different communities to coordinate and leave something representative of each community that joined in the mural. In the mural you can appreciate flags, movie logos, parts of series, etc.

After its closure, earlier this week, Reddit users started to find parts of the art and even the whole art in places like OpenSea where they were sold as NFTs with prices from 0.002 to 1 Ether. Most contributors to the mural found it offensive as that was not the point of the mural and also took it as theft as the mural doesn’t actually belong to anyone.

In addition to spaces on OpenSea other channels have also been created within Reddit to promote the sale of the NFTs. Parts of One Piece, a very famous Japanese comic, the Ukrainian flag, references to Star Wars and more of the community project from which people want to profit have been found for sale. 

As well as channels have been created to promote their sale, discussions have been created against where users are encouraged to denounce the NFTs for sale so that they are withdrawn and can not be sold. Currently they have managed to remove some users from the OpenSea platform and are still fighting to maintain the essence of the project.
