This new alliance brings users the opportunity to enter virtual horse races.

Popular beer company Budweiser has partnered with Zed Run to develop Clydesdale draft horses for virtual betting and horse racing based on NFT technology. Budweiser’s latest move comes on top of the $120,000 it spent on NFT fan art and the purchase of the Beer.eth domain name, which it obtained through the Ethereum naming service in August 2021.

Zed Run was founded by Sydney-based Virtently Human Studio in early 2019, and its racing NFTs were originally minted and sold for around USD $30-80, but have since become a highly sought-after asset with thousands traded on secondary markets. In April 2021, one user sold a racehorse for $125,000.

Budweiser Clydesdale is a famous group of horses used in the company’s promotion and advertising in addition to that Budweiser is one of the largest sponsors of horse racing worldwide. There will be a total of 2,500 NFT Budweiser Passes available for sale (for users 21 and older) for up to 24 hours, beginning June 10. Each NFT transaction will cost $225 plus gas fees.

Skins that will allow each user to customize their horses will be released in July for Clydesdale NFT owners, additionally they will receive Budweiser t-shirts that can be worn by avatars in the Decentraland metaverse, where Zed Run’s virtual headquarters is located. The duo is releasing three different versions of the NFT horse racing skins in varying quantities: 1,600 Classic Clydesdales, 800 Bud Bottle Clydesdales and 100 Gold Clydesdales.

Unlike most NFTs, which can only generate income by buying or selling them, in Zed Run you can use horses to earn money. The whole process is based on algorithms. People have no control other than choosing who to breed their horses to. The goal is to pass on champion genes and lineages and combine them to create the next generation of champion horses.
