Bored Ape and Animoca Brands, the empire of bored apes expands.

Two greats come together to bring consumers to the metaverse.

Yuga Labs, developer of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), and Animoca Brands, owner of The Sandbox metaverse, have teamed up to bring collectors into the metaverse.

For now, the company with the boring monkeys has integrated the utility and governance token ApeCoin into its business model. As part of the deal, the BAYC community will be able to use APE to purchase NFTs from Animoca’s Play to Earn Benji Bananas game, which as they have pointed out will be powered by their own currency, Apecoin, which was launched just few days.

According to the news portal, “Observatorioblockchain”, the goal of Yuga Labs is to expand into the Metaverse and focus on Web3 business models. This company wants APE to be used in all the products and services that its community develops.

BAYC returns to the metaverse.

On its official Twitter account, the technology company Yuga Labs, the creator of this famous BAYC collection, posted an animated video on March 18, 2022, accompanied by a short message: «See you on the other side in April.»

In the video one of the avatars is observed fishing, but when he comes across a bottle that has the writing, (DRINK ME) and without thinking about it, he does it, and chaos begins, everything begins to be destroyed, a volcano erupts and a character makes presence which takes the bored monkey (to the other side).

Leaving the expectation of a new boring monkey adventure, the jump to the metaverse for next month.

If BAYC were to finalize the project, it would not be the first time that they had a presence within these.

BAYC also provided the impetus for Adidas, the German sportswear company, to jump into the metaverses, this time from The Sandbox platform.

On his official Twitter account, Adidas confirmed on December 2 last about his «jump» to the metaverse. In a video of a few seconds, you can see how three avatars, belonging to the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Punks Comic and GMoney collections wearing the sports company’s clothing, arrived in the metaverse.

Hong Kong-based gaming software company that was founded in 2014. The company develops and distributes free-to-play games and applications, with a primary focus on well-known brand licensing, blockchain, and artificial intelligence.

Animoca is also a reference for being behind The Sandbox, one of the first metaverses to be created and where there are already several well-known brands and people participating, such as the rapper Snoop Dogg or the electronic music producer Deadmau5.

However, it is also likely that they are developing a video game based on boring monkeys, considering that Animoca Brands has been behind several installments for the computer. Furthermore, it has been involved in the digital game business for about four years now.

Bored Ape Yacht Club

Or simply Bored Ape, it is a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) built on the Ethereum blockchain. The collection features bored cartoon monkey profile pictures that are generated using an algorithm.

Launched in April of last year, BAYC has become one of the biggest names in NFT. With multi-million dollar sales and a growing list of celebrities buying them, it has positioned itself as the most valuable NFT project by market cap. The entry price to buy one of their NFTs is more than USD $200,000, the cheapest.

With the new APE cryptocurrency, Yuga Labs is taking steps to continue expanding the BAYC empire beyond collectibles. The company only announced last week the acquisition of two other big names in the NFT sphere: CryptoPunks and Meebits, in an effort to expand its portfolio. It is also in talks for a multi-million dollar investment, according to The Verge.
