Because of changes in the company’s policy, some NFT projects have suffered a drop

This week the team of the famous video game Minecraft made an important announcement through its website where it informed the Blockchain developer community that Minecraft will not support non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

In the statement the company explained that NFTs are not a contemplated change for the development of the game, since they consider that inevitably NFTs would not be accessible to a great part of its players, which in their own words would create an ‘exclusion model that conflicts with the Guidelines and the spirit of Minecraft’.

Each of these uses of NFTs and other blockchain technologies creates digital ownership based on scarcity and exclusion, which does not align with Minecraft values of creative inclusion and playing together. The speculative pricing and investment mentality around NFTs takes the focus away from playing the game and encourages profiteering, which we think is inconsistent with the long-term joy and success of our players

Through the statement; Minecraft stressed that they had no near-term plans to reevaluate the game’s outlook and that no project was authorized to use elements of the game for NFT development «blockchain technologies are not permitted to be integrated inside our Minecraft client and server applications nor may they be utilized to create NFTs associated with any in-game content, including worlds, skins, persona items, or other mods».

Although the Minecraft team said it had no plans at this time to integrate blockchain technology into the game, it did not rule out the possibility of re-evaluating this in the future as the technology expands and develops further.

A decision that has caused significant losses to some projects

According to Yahoo Finance, following Monjang’s NFT statements, the price of NFT Worlds NFTs dropped by 62.65%, making each of its NFTs worth just $0.01 dollars.

The collapse has the creators of NFT Worlds trying to appease those who invested money in their project. Through a post on their discord channel the developers of the project said they were evaluating this internally with the goal of finding solutions to changes to the Minecraft Terms of Service, the NFT Worlds ecosystem and the team, if necessary.
