In today’s crypto news, the founder of Cardano has revealed he will meet Argentina’s President Javier Milei next month to discuss crypto, Solana has unveiled its “Seeker” smartphone — the second iteration of its crypto-integrated mobile devices — and a United States lawmaker said enforcement abuse by the US Securities and Exchange Commission makes it “harder for legitimate actors trying to follow the rules.”
Cardano founder to meet Argentina President Milei
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson will meet with Argentina President Javier Milei in October to discuss the cryptocurrency economy.
Hoskinson told Cointelegraph in an interview that he is heading to Tech Forum Argentina to discuss the future of blockchain in a conversation with the Argentine president on Oct. 19.
In the upcoming meeting, Hoskinson expects to discuss blockchain’s potential to transform global economic, political and social systems.
He said he would also raise questions about the values and needs of Argentina in the context of technology, whether the country should create a central bank digital currency and what kind of partners it has to rebuild the economy.

“We’ve had many discussions with his administration, and I’m going to meet him probably on the 19th, but at some point, if not then within that time frame, we’ve been discussing with people that work with him and forum what blockchain’s future is going to look like,” Hoskinson said. He added:
“It’s not a Cardano only conversation, there’s a whole family of technologies.”
Solana unveils new Seeker device: Not just a “memecoin phone”
Solana has revealed its newest smartphone dubbed “Seeker.” The device is half the cost of its predecessor, the Saga, and according to the team, it’s more than just a “memecoin phone.”
Seeker’s predecessor — a smartphone called Saga — was criticized in 2023 over its technical capabilities compared to devices like the iPhone and Google Pixel.
Solana Labs general manager Emmett Hollyer said Seeker will have a higher-quality screen, better cameras and an upgraded battery, making it “lighter, brighter and better” than Saga.
The phone will also come with financial incentives for users as well, but the team doesn’t want users to think it’s just a phone for free tokens.
“Seeker, just like Saga, will be a rewards magnet, but also, it’s a huge opportunity for teams to build totally new experiences,” Hollyer told Cointelegraph. He added that the new device would feature an upgraded decentralized application (DApp) store and improved hardware as well.
“It’s not the memecoin phone. It’s going to enable all of the great use cases on the network, whether that is memecoins or DeFi [decentralized finance] or payments or games.”
Hollyer believes an open and unrestricted DApp store will allow developers to quickly launch and deploy new applications to Seeker users to better capture emerging narratives and use cases.
US lawmakers want SEC clarity on crypto
US Representative French Hill said SEC enforcement abuse makes it “harder for legitimate actors trying to follow the rules” in a scathing statement given during a hearing of the House Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology and Inclusion on Sept. 18.
The hearing, dubbed by lawmakers as “Dazed and Confused: Breaking Down the SEC’s Politicized Approach to Digital Assets,” featured testimony from a litany of congressional figures on both sides of the US political spectrum, with at least one Democratic Party lawmaker siding with Republicans on the issue.
