Blockchain Polygon has been selected by Walt Disney to anchor its Web3

The company will participate in Disney’s 2022 accelerator program that focuses on augmented reality and artificial intelligence.

The Walt Disney Company had not yet made any cryptographic games of its own, but now has several well-known companies interested in participating in its 2022 accelerator program.

In this sense, Polygon, the leading Web3 company that was among the participants has been chosen by Walt Disney to strengthen its commitment to Web3 and the metaverse.

According to the statement released by Walt Disney, the Ethereum-based platform is one of six projects accepted for the program, which this year will focus on augmented reality, non-fungible tokens (NFT) and artificial intelligence.

Likewise, the portal «cointelegraph» published that Polygon CEO Ryan Watt, pointed out on Wednesday that the organization was «the only blockchain selected» among all the participants for Disney’s prestigious accelerator program. He also added that this selection «speaks volumes about the work being done at Polygon, and that the organization is on the right track.

Flickplay is also among one of the companies that Disney Accelerator has selected for its program, being a Web3 application that allows users to discover NFTs linked to real-world locations that they can experience and share through AR. Inworld, a company that facilitates the creation of AI-powered interactive characters for immersive experiences, is also among the companies that were selected.

All program participants will also receive additional investment capital and access to co-working space on the Walt Disney campus in Los Angeles.

What is Polygon

Formerly known as Matic Network, is a blockchain framework with a set of tools used to build Ethereum-compatible decentralized applications (DApps), it is a framework for building interconnected blockchain networks.

Polygon, seeks to somehow address Ethereum’s main limitations, including its performance, poor user experience on delayed and high-speed transactions, by using a novel sidechain solution to do so.

In addition to being the only blockchain selected, it is one of the best blockchain projects to date, the company’s Matic token is currently the most valued cryptocurrency on the market with a capitalization of $18 million.
