Sorokin pretend to offer exclusive benefits for ‘Anna Cards’ proprietaries

Last week, well-known fraudster Anna Sorokin announced that she would be launching an NFT collection as part of an interview that first aired on NBC News NOW.

Russian-born Anna Sorokin jumped into the international spotlight this year. Sorokin, better known by her alias, Anna Delvey, became a controversial figure after Netflix released a miniseries based on the true story of scams run by the artist, in which she posed as a German heiress. The show was Netflix’s biggest hit earlier this year.

In October 2017, Anna Delvey was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department, and was charged with stealing approximately $275,000 through multiple scams and sentenced to 12 years in prison with probation, of which she served four years and was released from prison for good behavior on February 11, 2021.

New venture with NFT

Sorokin is now developing a new scheme with NFTs. According to the interview, the new NFTs will be called «Anna Card» , and will have several categories offering different levels of exclusivity.

Benefits for owners will range from access to exclusive live broadcasts, phone calls, Anna items or in-person meetings, depending on the level purchased.

Sorokin expressed that at this point in his life he had intentions of doing different business in the future, he wants to do things by the books and focus on doing «something legit.»

«This is, like totally, has been pushed upon me by the prosecution and by the following media and by the Netflix show, but I’m trying to move away from that definitely.» said her during the interview.

A common move among scammers

Actually, Sorokin is not the first scammer to decide to dabble in business with NFTs after her case became known. A few months ago, Shimon Hayut, known after the release of the documentary ‘The Tinder Swindler’ made a similar move promising users exclusive videos with the purchase of his NFTs.

What is perhaps most interesting about this is the obvious lack of emotions of guilt and shame between the two, as while some of their victims are still trying to move on after losing huge amounts of money, both characters decide to use the spotlight they were given to do business while trying to clear their name.

In March 2021, six weeks after her release, Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Anna again for overstaying her visa, and she remained in ICE custody in upstate New York for a year. She is currently still being held in a U.S. immigration detention center, where she faces possible deportation.
